Curriculum Assistance Overview
The Curriculum Assistance Program (CA) has been designed to provide support with academics and the remediation of basic skills. We will provide instruction in various academic areas such as test-taking strategies and organization skills as well as social emotional learning areas such as , self-determination and building positive relationships. Additionally, the class is designed to support students in their general education courses through small group and individual instruction.
Grading Policies
Grades will largely be based upon journal goal reflections, agenda completions, Power School’s grade sheets, common assessments, CA activities, notebook checks, and class work.
Grades are calculated as follows:
Daily Activity (Daily Log, CA Activities, online skill practice, small group lessons) - 50%
Academic Readiness (To-Do List, Powerschool, Notebook) - 10%
CA Assessments (unit or skill assessments, projects) - 40%
Wake County Grading Scale:
A : 100-90
B: 89-80
C: 79-70
D: 69-60
F: 59-below
Missing Work
Students have 10 days to turn in missing work without a deduction. After ten school days, a student’s submitted work will have a ten point deduction (one letter grade).

- Make-up Work: All work must be turned in and any missed assessments completed 10 days prior to the end of the quarter.
- Students are expected to keep organized notebooks, maintain up-to-date agendas, and monitor their grades on Power Schools outside of class time.
- Students who miss online work in class, are able to work on these assignments independently outside of class.
